What is the Lexar Professional Workflow?

The Lexar Professional Workflow Dock (WF 800) is the core of the Lexar Workflow system. The sturdy device has six Thunderbolt 4 slots that you can fill yourself with portable Lexar SSD drives and/or Lexar card readers of your choice. This makes the system flexible and easy to customise.

Four Thunderbolt slots support speeds of up to 10 Gbps, while the other two slots, for CFexpress 4.0 card readers, offer speeds of up to 40 Gbps (gigabit per second). On the front is also one USB-C and one USB-A port for external devices such as an HDD. At the back, you'll find three Thunderbolt 4 ports: one for the 140W GaN power adapter and two others you can use for your computer, an 8K display or two 4K displays. You can even link multiple docks together to expand. It is made of heat-dissipating aluminium and has a built-in fan, so it stays cool and you don't have to worry about overheating during prolonged use.
Six modules to choose from
You can insert six modules into the Lexar Workflow. The modules have a USB-C port on the back with which you connect it into the Workflow. All inserted modules can be used at the same time. The modules you can choose from:

Each module can also be used as a standalone, which is why you get a separate USB-C cable with each module. A handy USB-A adapter is also included. Each drive appears as a separate connected volume on your laptop. In addition, the casing of the modules is made of scratch-resistant aluminium, ideal for when you take a module with you on location.

Workflow Portable SDD (2TB or 4 TB)
The Workflow Portable SSD supports USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, giving you write and read speeds of up to 2000 MB/s. This depends on the device you connect it to, and how you connect it. If the SSD is in the Lexar Professional Workflow system then it delivers a speed of 1050MB/s. You can choose from two storage capacities for the SSD: 2TB and 4TB.
Besides looking stylish, the SSD's casing is also very functional and well thought-out. Thanks to the design, the SSD stays cool even at high speeds. Also, these SSDs are IP68 certified, making them resistant to dust and splash water. So you don't have to worry about your storage even during outdoor and off-road photo and video sessions. In addition, they have a drop resistance of up to 3 metres. As a result, these SSDs are less fragile than others and can take a beating. Even if they accidentally fall to the ground.
Workflow CFexpress 4.0 Type A card reader
This card reader is for Sony users using the extremely fast CFexpress Type-A cards. It is compatible with both the latest CFexpress 4.0 Type A cards and CFexpress 2.0 Type A cards. In the right configuration, it achieves read speeds of up to 1800MB/s and write speeds of up to 1650 MB/s. Transfer your files fastest when working with one of the best memory cards for a Sony camera. Of course, it works seamlessly with the Lexar Professional Workflow. So you can plug the card reader directly into one of the two 40Gbps slots. Workflow CFexpress 4.0 Type B card reader
A CFexpress Type B card differs from a Type A card, so you need a separate card reader for each type. This CFexpress Type B card reader is ideal for professionals working with the latest CFexpress 4.0 Type B cards. It reads these cards effortlessly. Of course, it also reads CFexpress 2.0 Type B cards. You plug the card reader into one of the Workflow Dock's two 40Gbps slots. A USB4 cable (40Gbps) is also included for quick and easy connection to your USB-C devices. This module is for photographers working with, for example, a Canon EOS R5C or a Nikon Z9, and videographers working with a Canon EOS C300 III or Sony FX6.
Workflow Dual-Slot SD UHS-II card reader
The Dual-Slot SD UHS-II card reader has the same sturdy housing as the CFexpress card readers. It has two SD UHS-II card slots (also UHS-I compatible) that allow you to transfer data from two cards simultaneously. The transfer speed is up to 312 MB/s per port, so you can process data efficiently. The card reader comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable (10 Gbps) and a USB-A adapter. You can use it straight out of the box without the need for additional accessories. Naturally, it works smoothly with Lexar Professional Workflow. This module is best placed in a 10Gbps port. The Dual-Slot SD module should not be missing if you work with, for example, a Fuji GFX100II, Fuji X-H2 or a Sony A6700.
Workflow SD/microSD UHS-II card reader
The SD/microSD UHS-II card reader allows you to transfer data from one SD and one microSD card at the same time. With a transfer rate of up to 312 MB/s per slot, it does so at a rapid pace. That comes in handy when working with, say, a Fuji X100VI system camera and a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. Or a Sony A7 III and an Insta360 X4 action cam. The card reader comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-A adapter, so you can also take it with you when you're out and about. Six Workflows linking with Daisy Chain
The Lexar Professional Workflow supports the use of a Daisy Chain. A Daisy Chain is a way to connect multiple Workflows together through a single port, without the need for additional connections on your computer. With the Lexar Professional Workflow system, this means you can link up to six Workflow Docks together. So you can easily expand the number of available slots, while keeping everything connected to your computer via a single cable.
